Accessories for Artificial Grass

Artificial or Synthetic grass is a man-make substitute for natural grass. They were `born’ because real grasses are far from perfect. This natural green needs regular watering as well as fertilizers. Besides that, it also requires a lawn mower to keep it nice and trim. However, fake grass thrives on the shortcomings of the real grass. Proper installation of artificial grass needs to be done together with some accessories for these artificial grasses.

Firstly, we need to understand the features of each of these artificial grass accessories. In addition, we also need to know how these accessories can help enhance the newly installed artificial grass. If you are able to achieve this, you would have a longer lasting artificial grass in your house. This is especially required for your artificial grass garden and balcony.

1. Geotextile Sheets

Geotextiles are permeable fabrics and they are made from synthetic fibres, and appear woven, needle punched or non-woven (heat bonded). Their resulting mechanical robustness and excellent hydraulic properties make them the ideal choice for separation and filtration.

Geotextile sheets are used for filtration of soils in drainage applications by retaining soil particles while allowing the free flow of water. This function can prevent weeds from taking root in the base, should have a geotextile layer before installation of the artificial grass carpet.

Thickness of grass carpet, ranging from 1.2mm, a width of 2mm and size of 150mm. They are usually made of Polypropylene.

2. Drain Cell

Drainage cell – with a thickness of 30mm with a 500x500x30 dimension, weighting 15kg per-piece with 95% drainage, is a structural drainage module. It is manufactured from recycle plastics design for sub-surface drainage

Our GM Drain Cells is manufactured from high strength polypropylene which it can be used in construction such as for roof gardens, featured wall, small balcony gardens, pond filtration systems, concealed drains, and landscaped decks.

Drain Cell is a lightweight modular drainage cell system that creates a permanent, non-clogging void between the concrete slab and the soil profile. This enables a direct flow of water to designated outlets avoiding the risk of water build-up and ponding. The modules are easily interlocked in the same plane or at right angles to one another.

3. Shock Pad

Shock pad is a type of underlay that is often used as a base for artificial grass in schools and nurseries. Made out of blended polyethylene pieces, shock pad is a fall cushioning surface. Installing shock pad means you will have a cleaner installation that minimises the amount of hard landscaping material.

It provides maximum protection, flexible, lightweight and comfort with its excellent shock absorbing and cushioning properties thus reducing risk of injuries and giving the feel of natural grass. This is especially suitable for playgrounds and golf courses

Conclusion

These are the 3 main accessories that we use when we install artificial grass. However, there might be other types of accessories, which is more suitable depending on the type of flooring as well as where the grass is being installed
